Scholarship Instructions:

  1. Fill out the Online Scholarship Application.

  2. Be sure that your most current MAP (Major Academic Plan) has been approved by your Academic Advisor on Mapper. Incomplete or unapproved MAPs will delay your application. (Those currently enrolled in EIL courses ONLY will not need to have a MAP)

  3. U.S. Citizens, Legal Permanent Residents and U.S. Nationals are required to complete the 2010-2011 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Please keep in mind that it takes at least 2-3 days for a FAFSA to be fully processed and received by our office. Your Scholarship Application is not complete until your FAFSA is completed. To complete a FAFSA go to www.fafsa.ed.gov.

  4. International Citizens are required to complete the ISAA (International Student Aid Application). Your Scholarship Application is not complete until your ISAA is completed. Be sure to double check your ISAA and attach ALL supporting documents before handing it to the Financial Aid & Student Accounts Office. To complete an ISAA go to http://isaa.byuh.edu.

DO NOT wait until the Scholarship deadline to complete your FAFSA or ISAA!!!


Reminders:

  1. The department responsible for the major you selected will receive a copy of the application you have submitted, therefore only one application is necessary.
  2. If you need to make a change to your application, please see the Financial Aid & Student Accounts Office. DO NOT resubmit a new application!!!
  3. I-WORK Students may apply for Scholarship but aid will be limited.
  4. ILDS Students are not eligible to apply or receive University & Department Scholarships.
  5. Be sure to read the Terms & Conditions at http://financialaid.byuh.edu/?q=node/28 and be fully aware of your rights and responsibilities in regard to financial aid.
  6. Your financial aid award offer may change based on other financial aid you may receive. You can receive financial aid awards and loans up to the Cost of Attendance. Cost of Attendance at BYU-Hawaii can be found at http://financialaid.byuh.edu/?q=node/27.
  7. Should you drop below the required GPA and/or credit hour requirement prior to the semester/term the scholarship is awarded, you will not receive the offered scholarship.
  8. The credit hour requirement is 14 credit hours during a semester (Fall, Winter) and 6 credit hours during a term (1st, Spring, Summer).
  9. You must be enrolled in at least two semesters and two of the three sequential terms within a calendar year to receive institutional merit and need-based financial aid, including school-based scholarships.

For Applicants experiencing Extenuating Circumstances or Financial Hardship may bring in documented proof of your special circumstances to support your claim. Some examples of acceptable documentation can be:

  • Medical bills
  • Letter(s) from Bishop, Counselor or Medical Professional
  • Letter indicating loss of employment or income
  • Copy of death certificate(s)
  • Photographs of natural disaster aftermath


BYU-Hawaii Financial Aid or your major’s department may contact you if more documentation is needed to complete your scholarship application.
