For Independent Students (married)
- Verification Form for Independent Student
- Student and Spouse Income Information
Verification is the process by which the Financial Aid Office compares the information on the FAFSA Application with source documents provided by the student, parent, or spouse so as to verify the accuracy of the information provided on the FAFSA Applications.
Acceptable documentation to verify income for student, parent, or spouse if taxes were filed, the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) used in the FAFSA or the IRS Tax Return Transcript. If taxes were NOT filed, the IRS Verification of Non-Filing Status and a written statement of financial support.
BYU-Hawaii will verify the information for all students who are randomly selected for verification by the federal government.
In addition, BYU-Hawaii may select students for verification to resolve conflicting information on the FAFSA Application.
At BYU-Hawaii, financial aid will not be disbursed to those selected for verification until all documents required for verification are submitted and the verification process is complete.
Students will need to successfully submit all required documents for their verification before the last day of the semester they want their financial aid to be applicable.
